Where We Are
Raisin’ Roots Farm has been a part of the Larimer County community since 2015, beginning as a small operation in Laporte, Colorado. In 2017, Ben moved the farm to its current location in Northwest Fort Collins on Taft Hill & Vine.
How We Grow
Raisin’ Roots operates on several acres of arable land through the generosity of Dennis Vanderheiden, the property owner. We grow 60+ heirloom and organic varieties of vegetables throughout the year. Companion planting, soil amending, lack of pesticides and low-till growing practices ensure delicious, nutritious produce and a healthy soil ecosystem for seasons to come. Raisin’ Roots also produces humanely raised, pastured eggs from 120 laying hens and seasonal pork shares.
Who We Serve
Based in a residential neighborhood of Fort Collins, Raisin’ Roots is committed to being a “good neighbor” in every sense. We practice ethical animal and plant care, including sustainable soil and water management.
We believe that equitable access to produce is a cornerstone of community longevity. For this reason, we are SNAP/EBT certified at both the local farmers’ market and our weekly farm stand. We also work with local food system non-profits such as The Vegetable Connection and The Growing Project.
The farm offers 60 seasonal CSA shares, including payment plans and pro-rated options to give the widest range of accessibility to the Fort Collins community. Please see our “CSA” tab for more info.
Rooted in Community
We are also committed to community engagement at the farm itself. We host open houses, farm-to-table dinners and collaborate with CSU’s food systems and agriculture departments to conduct educational tours for students and faculty.
We have a thriving volunteer work-trade community where, in exchange for 4-6 hours of volunteering per week, anyone is entitled to a full farm share of produce. This is another way in which we seek to keep our produce financially accessible.
Get to Know Us
We have worked incredibly hard to build and strengthen our relationships with this community and are a happy to have found a long-term home for the farm in our current location.
